If there is Camp Sawi, so is Camp Wagi but there’s more, and it is Camp Pag-asa.

Welcome to Camp Hope!

Camp Hope

Specially located to a serene place where you can escape out of the busy Metro or from the cramped tourist destinations. Camp Hope, of Apo Nena Bed & Breakfast, will greet you with their lovely black & brown dog “bantay” and a relaxing atmosphere.

Apo Nena Bed & Breakfast is located at Marcos Highway, Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur

As you set foot in their somewhat hidden place along Marcos Highway, in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, you’ll find yourself warped to a different dimension of peace, calmness and stillness. It’s not a go-to place, but you’ll find yourself wanting to spend some alone time or deep bonding experience with your loved ones here.

The afternoon I came, I ordered their café latte and pesto chicken sandwich. The coffee is just right and the pesto paste left a refreshing taste in my tongue. I was also surprised to see a shelf of random books and some board games at the café station. If I was there for fun, I could have borrowed one.

As for the rooms, I suggest you choose the ones called the seaside front. As the name implied, it is overlooking the water portions. If you look further, you’ll see that the streams of water meet the ocean. It was actually called an estuary. I find myself frequently looking at it as it reflects the sky. Surely, it has its enchanting effect aside from the cool feeling.

The next morning, I made sure to take my time, to explore a bit more, and to breathe and just relax.

Other dishes I tried were the omelet, pancakes and the kimchi spam rice. I’m not fond of spicy food but I like the kimchi spam rice. I had this for lunch. The spiciness of kimchi was balanced by the saltiness of spam and a little sweetness from the side dish atsara. Yeah, I traveled long enough to still enjoy some Metro staples.

It’s not the best but probably the nicest place you’ll find in the area. To think it was just a side trip and literal bed & breakfast for us who traveled long, this place left a remarkable impression more than the other places.

P.S. If you happened to visit or made it a stop over here, remember that this is a bed & breakfast rather than a fancy inn. It is along the highway and the stores and other establishments are far. Make sure to order your food in advance as the café operates a little bit late in the morning and closes early at night. Also, the staff are nice and respect your quiet time.
